Health leaders call for Tobacco and Vapes Bill to be passed swiftly The Bill will be scrutinised in the House of Lords from Monday as it enters committee stage.

This Bill is an opportunity to protect future generations from becoming addicted to a lethal product, and will give freedom to live a healthier life to the 88% of people – including thousands of medically vulnerable people – who don’t smoke.

Smoking kills 64,000 people in the UK every year, including infants & children.

Every day, 350 young people start smoking regularly

First injection to stop HIV approved The shot, given six times a year or every other month, is an alternative to taking daily pills to protect against ever catching the virus.

"A turning point in our collective fight to end HIV transmissions by 2030. Overall, diagnoses are decreasing, and, with the availability of this injection, that number promises to fall further."

Half of British adults gambled in last month – survey Some 2.7% of adults scored ‘8+’ on the Problem Gambling Severity Index in 2024 – up from 2.5% the previous year – the Gambling Commission found.

New stats this month show ⬆️ adults experiencing gambling harm. This is not down to individual behaviour. Instead, it is a result of extremely effective marketing. To ⬇️ harm, we need to better regulate price, availability, & marketing. bit.ly/3J5oUOm

New data shows encouraging progress in ending HIV transmission, with new diagnoses falling by 4% across the UK from 3,169 in 2023 to 3,043 in 2024.

But there's still work to do to reach the goal of zero new cases of HIV by 2030.
