While we are still waiting for the Aug 30 #solarstorm to arrive at Earth - a later arrival means diminishing chances for #aurora in Europe but better chances for North America - a new submitted paper lead by Emma Davies @spacedavies.bsky.social is already featured at the @newscientist.com (paywall).

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the 10-11 May 2024 geomagnetic superstorm! Our paper in @agu.org Space Weather led by Eva Weiler demonstrates the solar source of 5 interacting #solarstorms and the possibility to better predict such events with sub-L1 monitors in the future.

Great new review by Nada Al-Haddad and Noé Lugaz on a more realistic view on how magnetic field ropes inside solar storms look like, synthesizing many different studies of the past decades. More deformation, less twist, but still a lot to learn!

Our team is present this week at the COSPAR ISWAT workshop in Florida, with Emma Davies and Satabdwa Majumdar leading panels on solar storm and solar wind science, and Ute Amerstorfer and Hannah Rüdisser at the SWATnet final meeting in Helsinki.
