I love my parents for the record and I'm doing well enough I don't have interest in actually getting a diagnosis, just funny that everything adds up now that I'm allowed to think about it without interference. How every symptom matches my experience. And all advice for ADHD works for me. And

Learning that my mother has every bad habit I was criticized for growing up, she just uses coping mechanisms she had to learn on her own, which were usually not suggested to me beyond "try harder", then learning they threw out a child psychologist's ADHD diagnosis decades later

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.

I think lots of people have already talked about the specific ways it hits all of these appeals, so I won't just sit here doing a faux-review of something so obviously good.

Nichijou was my favorite comedy anime for years, and I can't even pit these against each other. Keiichi Arawi is the best.

And while I could go on forever about the animation alone, but something I only really appreciated once I was finished was the way every character had been written almost as their own sub-genre, and the entire thing is framed as so many rich stories living in such a small space. I miss them already.

It's such a good comedy anime because it's not just singularly gag-based - every detail is made to draw you into the scene so that the payoff is worth it. The gags are the entire setup, which you could watch dozens of times and still find more to appreciate. It's 1000% effort just for the hell of it

Without exaggeration, every episode offers a completely different experience, so it was exciting to watch even the nonsensical or slapstick comedy.
The timing was always perfect, and everything from the "camera" work to stylistic art choices added to the scenes as much as the actual characters do

20. City the Animation (2025)

In many ways, this is one of those shows that is everything you could ask for from anime.
Unique and charming art, inventive animation techniques, heartfelt and ridiculous moments back to back.
They knew a "Nichijou 2" of any sort would be awesome and they were right.

It was cool giving everyone some depth by putting them in less than ideal situations like that, but maybe my expectations for action movies like this are too low to think it would just be everyone doing the cool thing their role is made for

I think dead reckoning suffered a bit from having to lay it on really thick with The Entity stuff which was already dumb from the onset
It's been a bit since I saw Pt. 1 so it'd be hard for me to compare action scenes, but this one had some cool moments without too much of like.. mook fodder combat

I came out of it thinking more or less yup that was a 2025 action movie, but it was nice to watch something so movie-first for a change to just enjoy the cinematics and stunt work.

Was quite fond of honor-bound murder girl though it's just a great character type for Situations

When I watch movies like these, I know I'm not going in for a compelling story with a message. It's for the action sequences and seeing quality acting despite a surface-deep script full of plot holes if you think too hard.

So to that end, I think it was quite good at playing its strengths.

19. Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning

Admittedly I didn't watch this or Pt. 1 in cinematic conditions. I saw the first at a poolside viewing, and watched this one on an airplane. But I probably wouldn't have seen them at all if I hadn't, which would have been... fine, tbh, but it was neat.

It is admittedly kind of cute that everyone likes the new Hololive announcement staff they hired as like a PR face, but every clip I see is just a compilation of sounds they made and none of the words they spoke. Isn't that kind of bad for their job lol
