This book has one of the bleakest last pages pretty much ever. Masterpiece.

Despite that premise, the film is surprisingly sweet, although I do think the sheer volume of sex scenes eventually gets a bit exhausting....

Also Holly Hunter forever.

CRASH (1996). This is where the method is paying off, to quote the Just King Things crew. This film, about car crash and bodily harm fetishists, is almost a perfect hybrid of SHIVERS and parts of VIDEODROME.

M BUTTERFLY (1993). I saw this once 25 years ago, and thought that it was a clever critique of imperialism and orientalist fantasies with a trenchant final scene.

This time it just read as pure bathos...?

After a couple week break, I've returned to my nearly-complete Cronenberg super-watch. This week, it's sexual obsession wonderland (though to be fair that's most weeks with our Dave).
