Pt. 2: The artwork is made of the crunch of leaves, the bite of cold winter air, the conversation among a group of people, et al. Art history only looks at what the painting is of, not the movements of the body, the sounds and smells in the studio, all which are going into the painting as well.

I heard a discussion (photo’ed by @wncmartin.bsky.social) exploring the relationship between art and nature. One of the artists, William Price, defined art as the expression of experience with nature, which is much more than simply a vision to be depicted. (cont’d in comments)
