Reform voters are about to discover why people are forced to migrate. Voting for a company that denies the absolutely overwhelming evidence for climate change is a very short-sighted thing to do when you live in an area prone to flooding.

β€˜I thought the grownups were back in charge!’: John Crace on how Labour shattered his expectations After 14 years of Tory rule, the Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer thought he had seen it all. Westminster would surely tick along nicely once Keir Starmer’s party took over. How wrong he was ...

The first half of this article reads like an epitaph: "Mostly, though, you couldn’t escape the feeling that Starmer just wasn’t very good at politics. That No 10 had no control of the news grid and were waking up each morning just as surprised as we were that the country was falling apart."

Thanks to listener Fred White for this letter to Radio Times about the ending of Science in Action on the #BBCWorldService - "required listening".
"At a time when the lights of reason are dimming across the world, cancellation of this vital prog is a sad and myopic decision by BBC planners." Indeed.

My poor dog is terrified of the loud bang fireworks. Nov 5th in the UK is Guy Fawkes/Bonfire night which would be fine if it didn't go on for over a week. The loud bangs are the problem- dogs, wildlife, farm animals and veterans who suffer from PTSD all find this difficult. Ban loud bang fireworks

Nearly 150,000 aged 90 and above wait 12 hours in England’s A&Es each year Older people left in their own excrement and wet beds for hours and forced to watch others die, Age UK report finds

🚨 150,000 people aged 90+ are waiting over 12 hours in A&E every year - left in corridors & in pain.

This wasn't inevitable. It’s the result of political choices.

In the upper centre, the United Nations (UN) emblem (a white map of the world framed by olive branches) is displayed next to the European Union flag's circle of yellow stars, which is incomplete, showing only eight stars.

The text overlaid in white across the bottom reads: "Unity, our shared strength."

80 years ago, the world chose peace, law, and cooperationπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡³

Today, those principles are under attack.

In Europe, Ukraine is on the front line of this test, fighting for freedom and the UN-based order. We stand firmly with them.

Lasting peace begins with international law.
