same. it’s kind of ironic how some ppl are so quick to claim Bernie is a bad showcase of an anxiety disorder bc they think gentle meek wallflower is the only way to achieve that “the right way”

plus I think u can make the argument that a lot of characters don’t really change that drastically during the timeskip, they tend to just get more mature in subtle ways which I think applies to bernie

i disagree, i think she changes pretty notably

she doesnt completely phase out of her introversion/agoraphobia, but she makes a notable effort to be more open with others outside of her previously concieved fears about them (her edelgard and hubert A supports + dorothea B support to name a few)

its interesting how ppl think she'd be a better character if she was "toned down" and framed less irrationally early in the story. feels like people just want her to be like marianne rather than actually looking at the point of her character

agreed, i also think the comedic tone kind of serves a purpose in a way bc its percieved from the other person's perspective, not really knowing why she's acting so irrationally/fearful/hostile. but when they get to know her better, the comedic tone disappears to something more sincere.

honestly i dont mind it bc i dont think it really erases the trauma bernadetta experienced during and after the incident because of count varley. even she really felt conflicted abt finding out he saved her life bc of how horrible he treated her otherwise, same with how kind yuri was beforehand

EXACTLY its very easy to write her off just bc her early supports make her seem comically irrational from the other persons perspective, but the game does a great job at showing the layers to her character the more they know her. her dorothea, alois, and yuri supports especially are my favorites

i think the topic is actually about characters only being visibly queer if the mc is the same gender as them, which feels a bit misleading based off the title

apparently the vid cites 3h as a stardew-type approach to queer characters where theyre only visibly queer if the mc just happens to be the same gender

which i personally disagree with, but even then i feel like that topic is a different subject to the larger topic of npc romance agency

theres some legitimate issues to be had with how 3h handles its queer characters (especially on the mlm side) but i dont really think playersexuality has much to do with it really.

i feel like the endings can only be held with so much weight vs the actual relationships you see in-game anyways considering its essentially flavor text. like dorothea and edelgard are so very obviously fruity too thru their supports but their ending played it down
