I'm not sure! I know a clone of my DNI (federal ID, for foreigners reading) was done last year (for an unrelated credit card fraud case), but also I'm aware that the technology that goes into the ID changed quite a bit since my personal electoral fraud case (2010-2018? ish?)

it's hard to know 🫠

the civil registry office wasn't surprised at my case, and there's been a lot of fraud allegations (esp in the 2010s). but i never heard of anything solid in the justice system.

anecdotally, i did talk with other folks who've had it happen once i moved to Buenos Aires.

not to mention the copious electoral fraud - i was enrolled to vote in a province i never visited for i think three or four national elections? and someone voted for me, and there was nothing i could do :')

eh. i don't disagree with the shithole allegations entirely, but there's some really beautiful things about the place.

i thought about the "did it to themselves" thing for a long long time growing up, and it's just hard to say anything is voluntary when you've gone through decades of propaganda.

we truly are a melting pot.

when chatting with people, most folks can trace back their lineage to other countries within 2, 3 generations at most - and usually tell some really fun family stories about how they ended up here
