It wasnt an Edmontosaurus mummy but man, what is it with Hadrosaurids getting all the cool skin preservation fossils? Haolong dongi is an awesome dinosaur to add to the roster of fascinating fossils which show us we need to make our reconstructions far weirder and more varied in skin variety!!

The Denial of a Carcass

The Denial of a Carcass

In the #Jurassic period, a mated pair of #Ceratosaurus were enjoying their feast of juvenile #sauropod. Only to now be denied by a lone #Allosaurus sub adult, hungry and desperate for prey. As the rains return and storm brews, the standoff over the carcass continues.

My main problem I have with this stuff is, what sort of alternative do we have? Blusky is twitters, but what's YouTube? Vimeo literally just came out as Ai backed. YouTube is an inbred scraped hell. What's the alternative to YouTube that's actually for people? Nebula?

I desperately need a block channel option. My entire feed goes to Ai generated science videos and I HATE IT. YouTube somehow thinks that I wanna watch someone's ai generated prehistoric planet because I'm trying to find an old documentary from the 1970s! I God dam despise Ai so much.

A small little Camera known as a PaperShoot Camera sitting on top of the little bag I hold it in, next to the multi color pen I use to draw on it. Various different things of multiple colors cover that cameras skin. Plants, insects and most importantly dinosaurs. Still a work in progress though, more to come shortly!

Been working on a little side project, I'll be showcasing it soon but I bought a little camera and you can actually draw on it. The illustration is still a work in progress. But I'm excited to make a camera cover that just screams me!

This is the second body type for Dinamation's Tyrannosaurus, this one has a less round posture, and a far bigger head than the first one. The one in this picture is actively on the prowl for its next robotic meal.

The second body type of the Dinamation Tyrannosaurs from the side this time, You can fully see its differences compared to the original other body type of the earlier Dinamation Tyrannosaur. Its far larger head makes a larger difference compared to the previous one and also smaller rib section too.

I have a poster with it that kinda made my brain go "huh?" Turns out theres two! They built two different types of Tyrannosaur Bodies, although I have no clue which one came before the other.

There's a species of crustacean known as Tadpole Shrimps or Triops who also have a third eye. Give them a gander, their lovely little critters!

Kinda wondering about shinanigans and hoping we get a mummified theropod this year. Every so years we get a good mummified ornithischian but we haven't gotten any theropods yet. Fingers crossed though.

And then we find another edmontosaurus mummy....

Sorry if I'm rambling, but basically there's a lot of exciting possibilities when you take a step back and look at the big picture. Either way it just makes dinosaurs far more magnificent than we so far imagined.

Or alternatively what about like the keratinous false teeth that birds have, if it's in archaeopteryx and potentially other flying early dinosaurs like microraptor along with regular teeth. Could we give them to their later flightless descendants given that their secondarily flightless?

12.01.2026 19:16 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, lol. But there's a ton of fascinating possibilities we haven't investigated yet. Some birds have feathers that are almost scale like, the honey buzzard for ect. But imagine those types of scales on a dromeasaur? Imagine if we could take fossilized feathers and put them on a model to hear them.

Thank you for the correction, I don't know why I thought Heterodontosaurus? Guess morning brain just wasn't fully charged yet.

There's a ton of fascinating scales on dinosaurs that I've been compiling into a list, we are reconstructing them honestly far to smooth and not with enough integument variation.

Various images and scans of Feather like quill structures sprouting from preserved scales of an ornithischian dinosaur.

I don't remember the name of the specimen (just woke up) but this one has quill like structures going through its scales. I wonder also about like possible sounds? Birds use their feathers to just straight up make noise in some cases so I'm wondering could we investigate fossil filaments for sounds?

Been compiling a bunch of dinosaur skin and soft tissue preservation into one big Google Spreadsheet and these guys along with Heterodontosaurus (I think) have some fascinating scale and skin implications. I've been wondering is there a way to test how flexible or soft fossil structures could be?

These dioramas and so many others were always the inspiration for so many childhood questions I had, but now I'm worried about just what will come to be of the curiosity that feels so lacking from modern explorers in museums. Unless things change I kind of a lot worry for education as a whole.

A "walking tree"

A "walking tree"

A diagram of how they "walk"

A diagram of how they "walk"

Reading about walking trees rn. They "walk" by slowly falling and growing their roots across where they need to go till they reach a suitable spot and re root themselves upright. I think we forgot how much energy and force it takes to move forward until you stub your toe.

This one was from a dream I had, it was a false dragon and would fall onto its back and pretend to be a basilisk as a defense aside from glittery fog it made from its horn.
