it should be "they had 5 fingers, with the "thumb", "pointer", "middle" and "ring" fingers having sharp claws on them. The "pinkie" was reduced to somewhat of a stub."!!!

Ahytherium aureum was a medium-sized, 600-800+ lb Megalonychid sloth from Late Pleistocene Bahía, Brazil 🇧🇷, disappearing some 11-12,000 years or so ago.

Their habitat included open woodland, cerrado, caatinga, montane grasslands, and gallery forests.
Another fun fact is that at least juveniles were a prey item for Jaguars; Smilodon populator may have hunted them as well.
Ahytherium was a mixed-feeder, meaning it engaged in browsing and grazing behavior. Some plants it might have fed on include shrubs like Caesalpinia pyramidalis, grasses, leaves and fruits like Ficus figs.

ft. Pakicetus sp., Waimanu, type b Orca/Killer Whale and Emperor Penguin.
*note: Paki and Waimanu were not contemporaries, so treat this like the timeline in Ice Age movies lol.

A rough sketch with defined shadows of the newly described Spinosaurus mirabilis (a male) holding a fish in its mouth, about to swallow it, as it blocks the sun from four basking turtles on a log—clearly annoying them—in a marshy landscape.
Rough peak at a piece I was convinced to make! Basic shadow layout.

A sloth for the day: Xibalbaonyx oviceps from Pleistocene Quintana Roo, México 🇲🇽!
Their name means “Sheep-headed Xibalba Claw [from the underworld]”, referring to its skull shape apparently resembling that of a sheep and it being found from a cenote.

Yessirrrr! A funny common name could be “underworld sloth” if they were still around!
