We hope to see more moves like this and call for a full arms embargo on Israel.

We are, however, dismayed that the Scottish government is lifting the restriction on using public money to help make weapons. We hold to our peace testimony, opposing war and preparation for war.

We welcome the decision by Scotland's First Minister, John Swinney, to stop giving public money to companies 'whose products or services are provided to countries where there is plausible evidence of genocide being committed by that country'.

Swinney has made clear that this will include Israel.

Quakers condemn dangerous Ramallah Friends School incursion On Tuesday, 26 August, the Israeli army carried out a dangerous incursion outside the gates of the Quaker Ramallah Friends School in the occupied West Bank.

On Tuesday 26th August tear gas canisters were fired near Ramallah Friends School and a parent was fired on by a sniper while trying to reach the school gates.

Nobody at the school was injured but the children were left shaken and their families anxious.
