Baked some lime and coconut iced buns

This week's bakes were orange and chocolate brioche pumpkins and my first go at adding inclusions into my sourdough, gochujang and smoked cheese. Both were very orange! #baking #breadsky

Been a lot of posts about bread lately so here is one of my cute little cats.

I didn't burn the top of the loaf this time! But I still struggle to keep the crust from going soft. Help #breadsky

Second sourdough loaf and it was all going so well. I thought I'd let it cool in the oven as I heard it helps with the crust. But I forgot to turn the oven off 😭

Thanks so much! From memory mine ingredients were pretty similar to yours but I'll definitely try a slightly longer bake with the lid off next time.

In a ceramic pot with a lid (I don't have a proper Dutch oven). Baked approx 30 mins with it on then 15 mins with it off. Sprayed the loaf just before I put it in. I wasn't sure if a tray of water would do much with a lidded pot?

Made my first sourdough loaf this week. Pretty happy with the taste and seems to have pretty good bubbles in the crumb. But it didn't keep the crispy crust and is a bit flat. Any ideas why #breadsky ?

Rainbow biscuits

Had a go at the #gbbo picture biscuit challenge. They didn't hold their shape well but they are quite tasty.

Second attempt at sourdough baguettes. Slightly darker than planned but looks at that ear!
I really struggled with the hydration levels. That will be the next thing to learn and understand.

Looks like a damp weekend for a festival.

So my baguettes didn't turn out quite right...
The dough was SO wet I couldn't shape them so had a quick pivot to focaccia instead.

First go at a sourdough starter. Day 4 and it seems to be going well. And you can definitely smell it in the kitchen! #breadsky

Sometimes a weekend is just wonderful. Nothing spectacularly different. But just perfect.
