Finally, the organisation of the olfactory circuit enable us to interpret function out of structure, uncovering core conserved as well as hot-spot subcircuits, and leading to testable predictions.
We identified evolutionary patterns. E.g. over short evolutionary distances neuron types and numbers remain conserved, but how they connect changes. See schematic for other key points!
