Listen actively, use the same language about our experiences as we do and reflect things back to us to check our understanding. Don't dismiss or invalidate the experiences we have trusted to share with you. Different things work for different people - collaborate with us in figuring out what would be helpful or unhelpful. If we don't know what would help, try to offer concrete options we can choose from and try. Try not to view us differently, we are still the same person we were before we told you about our voices. Remember our strengths and capabilities, as well as our struggles. With support, we can still achieve a lot. Be open and transparent. It's ok to not be sure how to best support us, but please explain to us what next steps are and involve us in making decisions about us.
