Cleaning my bookshelf is rarely a good idea. Yeah, I get a chance to take stock of what I have but then I’m reading the back of the book, then the first page to see if I’ll like it, then the next, and next thing I know, 3 hours have passed, I’m surrounded by book piles, and nothing is done. #booksky

I painted and polished up a writing desk gifted by a coworker. Very proud that I didn’t end up wearing the paint. Small wins.

Reading your work from the beginning:

Pros:
• see where you can improve your story and shore up plot holes.
• fall in love with your characters again
• get motivated to pick the story up and write again

Cons:
• massive cringe at your previous work and what you thought was good

Got a snow day off from work, so now it’s time to sit down with my coffee and do some work on that story I’ve been mentally planning out for the last two weeks…right after I update my computer system, empty the dishwasher, feed the cat, start the laundry - oh, when did I last check the mail?

Needed to do something fun and relaxing for me, so baking some bread was the right call. From left to right, a chocolate chip bread to pair with ice cream, a chocolate bread to have as is, and an applesauce bread for subtle sweetness. Good day, I’d say. #baking #sweetbreads #keepingmysanity

It’s hard to get back into reading at times, especially if there are so many outside factors getting in your way. So if you want to read that unhinged fanfic clearly written to destroy your frail grasp on your sanity, then go ahead. Treat yourself.

Reasons to Live Through the Apocalypse Sunrises. People you have still to meet and laugh with. Songs about love, peace, anger, and revolution. Walks in the woods. The smile you exchange with a stranger when you experience beauty accidentally together. Butterflies. Seeing your grandparents again. The moon in all her forms, whether half or full. Dogs. Birthdays and half-birthdays. That feeling of floating in love. Watching birds eat from bird feeders. The waves of happiness that follow the end of sadness. Brown eyes. Watching a boat cross an empty sea. Sunsets. Dipping your feet in the river. Balconies. Cake. The wind in your face when you roll the car window down on an open highway. Falling asleep to the sound of a steady heartbeat. Warm cups of tea on cold days. Hugs. Night skies. Art museums. Books filled with everything you do not yet know. Long conversations. Long-lost friends. Poetry.

I wrote this on one of the darkest days of my life. It gave me an anchor to hold onto.

Writing:

Step 1: sit down with pen and paper or computer.

Step 2: pull forth the characters who will appear in the scene.

Step 3: put them in the scene you’ve written.

Step 4: watch them interact-no! Put that chair down! You can’t steal that- where did you get the chicken from? What is going on?

Saw the Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.
A good 3/5 ⭐️.
