I started reading Filterworld, a book about the effects of algorithms on culture, which is both interesting and disturbing. The author noticed a worldwide trend of cafes with amber Edison bulbs, seemingly shaped by what plays well on Instagram.

I'm liking it so far. Android apps are a little slow and definitely need you to change the e-ink quality settings according to what you're doing, but the native reader is really responsive. Compared to the Kindles I've used it's as good if not better overall.

The book "The Typewriter Revolution: A Typist's Companion for the 21st Century" by Richard Polt. The book has a bookmark ribbon, which is red and black like a typewriter ribbon.

The doubling of the period and comma keys is because they produce the same character normally and when holding Shift, and there's a separate key for colon and semicolon.

The keyboard layout of the Olivetti Valentine varied a little by region. Mine is from Japan, which is presumably why it has a Yen symbol, but it also has a Pound symbol, and lacks an equals sign. AFAICT they all omitted number 1 and expect you to type a lower case L instead.
