$11.3 BILLION in the first six days of Trump’s disastrous #IranWar.
And here’s the thing, we know even that is a massive undercount. Per the @nytimes.com “The estimate did not include many of the costs associated with the operation…”
The costs are astronomical.
#NotOneDime more for this war!
“Multiple US and state law enforcement and intel officials told @CBSNews there is no credible intelligence underpinning the bulletin distributed on the unverified possibility that Iran could retaliate for American attacks by launching drones at the West Coast.”
I do think it's about time for Dem electeds to wrap up the "he doesn't have a plan!" Iran war complaints.
Yes, for sure. This clown car never has a real plan. But even if this was the best-planned, well-briefed Iran war imaginable - it's still catastrophically bad and needs unequivocal opposition!
Not just predictable but PREDICTED. Again and again. Over and over by anyone who thought about how this war may play out for more than 2 minutes.
I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.
1/ Here's what I can share:
(Guardian) — Iran has spurned two messages from Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, seeking a ceasefire as its leaders sense it is not losing the war and the US president is at the minimum feeling the political pressure.
@theguardian.com

They have no earthly idea what they’re doing
Great work by NYT showing Trump's war is the most unpopular ever. Supports my argument (see below) that in some ways the public rejection of Trump across the board is a very heartening development:
"AFTER getting briefed"
Pretty much the opposite of everything Trump said.
🚨👀 As Trump/Hegseth angles for billions more to bomb Iran, they are spending:
- $6.9 million on 🦞 tail
- $15.1 million on 🥩 (in one month)
- $2 million for Alaskan king 🦀
& millions more (while cutting benefits for poor all across the country)
So the Pentagon blew through >$50B in five days of September — "more than the total military budgets of Canada and Mexico combined" — on stuff such as lobster tails and a grand piano … but wants Congress to hand it another $50B to fund Trump's stupid war in Iran?
No. Hell no. Absolutely not.
The bottom line is Trump sacrificed 8 American lives (& counting) and more than 1,000 Iranian lives (& counting) for nothing. He hurt the US & global economies, destabilized the Middle East, & will pull out with the same Iranian regime in power. There's no silver lining.
A senseless, criminal waste
As @adamjschwarz.bsky.social points out in the next post, Trump is joking about committing war crimes.
I see we’re also taking the sanctions off of Putin we put in place after his ego driven war of choice aimed at regime change in Ukraine to help Russia sell more oil to mask for the damage from Trump’s ego driven war of choice aimed at regime change in Iran.
Trump's family isn't even trying to hide their corrupt war profiteering at this point point. #TrumpCorruptionWatch
New — My case for why it’s not enough to call this “Trump’s war” when violence abroad implicates us all, and how we don’t need hindsight to know that unequivocally opposing this war will be the correct (and only morally defensible) choice:
Trump’s Iran War is as unpopular as the Iraq war was…in 2014.
“No president in modern polling history has launched a major military operation with the public already against him.”
📌 "Congressional Democrats need to know that if they provide the decisive votes for a war supplemental, they will endanger every incumbent Democrat with a primary ahead of them." @brianbeutler.bsky.social
My comment: “I don’t think any Democrat can credibly claim to lead the party or the country without opposing Trump’s reckless, lawless war. Honestly, it shouldn’t even be a tough call.”
If it’s a test, it’s an easy one. A vote to fund the war is a vote for the war.
My remarks on the War Powers resolution.
Despite starting the war, the Trump Admin is just now "working on a plan" to get Americans to safety while other nations are already well underway on their evacuations.
"Western governments are evacuating travelers from the Middle East. The U.S. is working on a plan."
There are so many things wild about this but "we kept the government totally in tact" in Venezuela is so unbelievably revealing. Trump's entire justification was how evil the Maduro regime was, but unless you believe Maduro did everything personally, to now be bff's with the same gov't is so telling
It's easy to lose track while bombs are falling, but the corruption of this Administration is quite literally unprecedented.
This is the most deranged logic you’ll ever hear.
It’s also not at all how the law works.
Schools should be places of joy, safety, and learning—never military targets.
Today I am thinking of the scores of children, families, teachers, and unionists whose lives have been lost or upended. We at NEA are in solidarity with members of @eduinternational.bsky.social in calls for peace in Iran.
$300 million mistake
That's the same cost as 25,000 Head Start slots
The savings we're getting here by annihilating decades of American science will pay for whole minutes of the operation to create decades of death, immiseration, and chaos in Iran.
“That’s the way it is…”
