I started swimming in the SF Bay in February, and I cannot tell you how much impact this little ritual has had on me. I love it so much! Even more than I hate the first 10 minutes in the water (and that’s a lot). These are the warmest times I’ve seen yet!
I freaking love parenting tweens.
They are figuring themselves out a *teense* more every day, still want to be your baby (when their friends aren’t looking), and have the funniest catchphrases.

This is just horrifying and heartbreaking. How can we survive if we keep letting our most vulnerable down?

New parenting level unlocked: Your tween, talking to their friend on speakerphone* saying, “don’t be sus, The Mother is nearby.”
*Also, why are these kids always on speakerphone? I appreciate hearing what’s going on and also at their age I would have been mortified if my folks overheard my convo.
Keep this pressure. All gas, no breaks. Do not let this story die. Do not let them determine when “we’ve moved on.” Break their media blitz!

Booker's speech was moving. Unexpectedly so. We watched the last bit as a family and I was so emotional; the boys were like "you're gonna cry aren't you Mom?" And I said, no, but I am shedding a few tears of relief that someone is being intentionally loud about how wrong this admin is. It's hope.

Almost one year old and the happiest chap. Thank goodness for him. We really did find the best dog to journey with us through these wild times. 💕

It’s a gorgeous day in San Francisco and all I want to do is listen to Jane Austen’s Emma on Hoopla and potter about the garden.
Alas, I like to buy garden things and thus we open the laptop and get back to work.
But I did make progress in my neglected rose garden this weekend. #HobbyGardener

Love Dav Pilkey! I was raised to be very proper/polite & was skeptical when my then-1st grader brought Captain Underpants home from the school library, wholly addicted. But as the librarian said, you can teach behavior/language. You can’t teach a love of reading. Dav Pilkey instilled it, though. ❤️

Our two tween sons had three tween friends for a sleepover last night. We said goodnight to them at 11pm. And again at midnight. And then 2am. Then 4am. I cooked everyone a hot breakfast complete with homemade monkey bread , did all the dishes, and cleaned the kitchen. If you need me it’s a nope.
Man, I love San Francisco. Especially in springtime. I have lived here for nearly 21 years — longer than I've lived anywhere and almost half of my life. And every day I see or experience something that makes me go “wow, I get to live here. HERE!” And I feel so lucky.
