This comment really makes me mad! Our PM is being assertive not kissing ass! It's diplomacy, unfortunately, so many donโ€™t understand what it means to have political diplomacy or understand you catch more flies with honey than you do vinegar.

I chop up the stems in small pieces and freeze. When I have enough in the soup pot they go. Everything is just so expensive.

I can smell it from here, yum yum. I'm making cream of broccoli soup today.

Happy #thicktrunktuesday A large fruiting of oysters decorating and consuming the big tree.

What a harvest moon last night! The house was glowing around midnight looked like the trees were painted silver. Absolutely beautiful...

Looks like you found very young jack o lanterns. Check them out in a few days โค๏ธ it's the season for them. Cool looking mushroom and they glow in the dark.

Look at these adorable chubby guys! I thought my wine caps beds were done for the season? The warm weather has started them up again. Hopefully they don't abort as the weather is changing starting tomorrow with rain and cooler temperatures.

Being a perennial fungus it grows larger with each year. I found one once the size of a small table. It is used for traditional medicine in different cultures, to a canvas for creating intricate works of art.

Artist conk - Ganoderma applanatum growing around a stick and will eventually consume it. It is parasitic and saprophytic, meaning it attacks and decomposes trees and is more common on dead trees than living ones. ๐Ÿ‘‡

The forest was quiet today as I figured it would be as we have had no rain in weeks. Came home early and worked around the house as there is always work. My milkweed is bursting out and I will spread around the property. Admiring my Canadian flag and glad to be ๐Ÿโค๏ธ๐Ÿ Made matsutake quiche for tonight.

They are super cool. I should of said that the reason they are a challenge to find is they are small, require perfect conditions to fruit and decompose fast.

Off shortly to a forest where we found these beauties! Wrinkled peach - Rhodotus palmatus is a captivating and visually striking #fungi and texture is like an ear lobe. Common and widespread finding one fruiting is more of a challenge. I have only found two fruiting's in ten years.

October 4th and the weather for the weekend is calling for 27c and even higher with the humidity. Crazy! Here is an adorable picture of some young Pholiota squarrosa, commonly known as the shaggy scalycap.

I have made the beer battered oysters (yum), pickled, mushroom burgers with many other varieties and jerky. I was a grower/small business owner years ago and now I just forage and grow my own for personal use.

Yep, pale yellow as it was an older specimen. I find when they get older the trim starts to bleach out. I like finding them at spray foam stage is what I like to call it. Nice find!

This was Laetiporus sulphureus and I have never found L. cincinnatus as of yet. I have read that L.C tastes better? I have tried the deep fried method and yes it is very good. I eat so many mushrooms I guess I am getting to fussy. โค๏ธ

Indeed they are not. Use as a glide line and then do the research. Took a picture of a deadly amanita and the app said it was a shaggy mane! Very dangerous...

Found on a recent walk - chicken of the woods. You couldn't miss this one as they stick out like a sore thumb. With COW I find them in spring, summer and fall. We left it as once they start to fan out they are tough to chew and lose flavour.

Amanita for sure but I don't think it's citrina. Looks more like abrupta with that big base? Hard to tell at this stage of decomposing.

Garden, mushroom season is almost done. Mums, asters, ligularia, sedum and anemone are blooming now. Some pine spikes in my forest and made a birch frame and decorated my urns for thanksgiving next week. Stuff is so expensive these days so I used stuff around the gardens except Pumpkin/corn/mums ๐Ÿ‘‡

My gigantic sword fern. Native to Australia I think.

My gigantic sword fern. Native to Australia I think.

I'm a fern maniac but some days I feel they are taking over my back room. I could never keep them alive indoors so years ago I saw something about bottom watering and it works like a charm. These big gals are constantly sitting in a large bowl of water. Ferns love it moist at all times.
