Good to see KS SB 87, voucher expansion bill, passed (24-16) *without* the votes (27) to override a veto. Likewise, happy that SB 47, micromanage board meetings, barely passed (21-19). If you read the LJWorld, you’ll appreciate that I’d like a word with at least 21 KS senators.

With Sweeping Executive Orders, Trump Tests Local Control of Schools The orders seek to encourage “patriotic education” and restrict discussions about racism and gender by threatening to withdraw federal funding. But schools are often resistant to change.

“…Political attempts to ban ideas from the classroom have rarely been successful.”

Our first voucher bill of the year — take action! Support public education. Leadership continually tries to push unpopular voucher programs. We need more and more Kansans letting them know that we value public education.

1st voucher bill of the #ksleg session. Testimony due Monday (1/27) by noon. Share widely in the state. Proponents got an early heads up so we need as much opposition testimony submitted as possible.
