This year has been so nuts that with this new position at work and with taking holiday time off, I find myself with 5 extra days.

So I’m taking off Halloween and the day before, since it’s a holiday too, dammit.

The novel.

Started reading Redshirts. It’s a lot of fun! But it reminds me heavily of Witches Abroad. In that Redshirts is Star Trek and Witches Abroad is fairy tales. They’re both about stories taking over.

Someone told me recently that part of the writing process is THINKING about writing. Nobody sits and writes immediately at the computer. And I wish they had told me that 3 years ago when this all started and I was feeling anxious, lazy, and ashamed of NOT doing so

But its true. Let your mind THINK.

What makes it worse is that no one is quite sure what to do to get me onboarded. A week in and I still have no training.

I forgot how exhausting and frustrating it is going on site and pretending to work for 8 hours. Onboarding sucks.

I’m really sorry to hear that. Might be time for some tea. It’s ok if a day is a wash.

In about 3 or 4 months, I will be happily swamped with things to do. But today? Literally bupkis.

So the company I work for generally is pretty great. The one thing they’re super bad at is onboarding. So when I started, I spun my wheels for like 2 months doing nada, convinced I was going to be fired.

Once again, at this new site, I am totally spinning my wheels.

I wish. I’m onsite but I’ll probably work from home tomorrow.

It’s completely wild. I honestly don’t know what to do with myself

I’ll tell you what though, I haven’t had this much white space on my calendar for YEARS.

Woke up early and accidentally went to work early. Gotta remember that this new place doesn’t require me to be here for 8am meetings.

So I got lost on this big ass campus. Went to the wrong building. Did the typical me thing and started chatting with everyone with the misfortune of sitting near me. Promptly forgot names. Warned them that I would forget names.

Last day on the monkey farm.

Tomorrow is a new circus, but at least it isn’t this one.
