A road descends in looping switchbacks from a high Tibetan pass toward the Himalayan range, and Mount Everest, in the distance. The brown plains contrast with the snow-capped range on the ‘roof of the world’.

#TheRoad to #Everest crosses several high passes in #Tibet, switchbacking laboriously up and down each side. At the Gawu La pass, Everest, with its north-east ridge, is just visible (center horizon with the ‘traditional’ plume from the summit).

That stork was there for about half an hour, just mooching around, not far from the dirt track I was driving on. My sightings have always been of them either just standing like this, or walking real slow!
