Before I give an update on my state of rapture, were we all supposed to be yeeted at the same time or is it going by timezones?
What I don't really get is who is this GDC for? It feels like it's trying to target everyone and no one at the same time. And maybe I'm nitpicking, but the event deck really should be reorganized. Some of the most crucial information is towards the end. They should have led with the pricing change!
What I don't necessarily understand is the change to "festival". I enjoy a good party, but I'm not going to GDC to have a party. I'm going to network with other professionals, support indie developers, and hopefully have some sort of professional development and/or sharing of knowledge with peers.
This feels like a response to the feedback that most attendees found the activations happening around GDC more beneficial than the conference itself. It's also likely a required pivot (to some degree) due to the way the event paywalled so many developers out of being able to attend for years.

Been job hunting lately and it's killing me how roles are now 3-in-1. Community Manager AKA social media manager, video editor, graphic artist, marketing specialist, copywriter, voice actor and streamer. They expect you to have 5+ years experience, yet you're only getting entry level pay. 😭
