WHY
NOT
Heck yes! John Byrne used to photocopy in backgrounds of NYC, because ain't nobody got time for that!
12.02.2026 21:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That is such a relief!
The line work took me about 40 mins, and then I spent nearly two hours trying to figure out how to do the CMYK halftones and crinkled paper look.
I am so bad at this. π
Thank you thank you! π

12.02.2026 16:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Very much so.
And thank you! Dan DeCarlo was one of my favorite artists growing up, and I thought his style might be a good plug in, even though Bazooka Joe never really had any artist who drew like him.
A comic made in the style of a Bazooka Joe gum wrapper, with a title heading that reads Bazooka Joe and his GANG. First panel: Bazooka Joe, a white kid (teenager) who presents male, is white, has blond hair and AN EYE PATCH! Seriously, the Bazooka Joe company gave their kid spokesperson an eye patch! I don't know! He also has a black ball cap and a white t-shirt that says "Bazooka" in alternating red and blue letters. ANYWAY, he is talking to an older white blonde lady in blue overalls and a pink shirt. She looks like my childhood crush, Betty Cooper, on purpose. Her hair is in a ponytail. Joe asks "What's the hardest part of being a grown-up who still likes dinosaurs?" Second panel: The woman in silhouette looking contemplative. The sound "hmm" is written in white. Final panel: The woman answers the question with "Probably telling your parents that you're transgender." Bazooka Joe is knocked off his feet, his brown shoes flipped up into the air. Because of her answer. Look, I don't get it either, but those incredibly overwrought reactions were commonplace in older comic panels, okay? I DON'T KNOW Then there's a Fortune, which reads: Those camps they're building ain't just for the brown people! Step out of line and you could end up there, too! I did this mostly to try and match the old style, and I think I might have done okay? I DON'T KNOW I love you, and abolish ice!
Weird.

I only came here to chew bubble gum, and honestly, I am feeling so attacked right now.

It's all part of maintaining crew morale.

I absolutely adore how this turned out! Thank you so much for making CC a part of the Sally Ride crew! π

Sorry.
When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.
