I was so worried. I rushed in to check if my bop shoo-bop shoo-bop still had a bop in it, and it looks like it's okay, but I am kinda terrified to look in on my dip do dip-di-dip.

05.12.2025 20:34 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 5 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0I think it might be fun for a couple of sessions, probably, but I think I have been spoiled for year-long campaigns, with grand world-building, and huge scope of narrative, and a LOT of actual role playing, and the One Ring system doesn't feel AS suited for this?
Um.
There is! But this mechanic, and the Counsel mechanic, make things seem a bit too, um, constrained to me?
And I kinda dislike the "convince me this is a good skill to apply to the problem, and see if you have an item that ties to it for an extra die" mechanic as well.
Urgh.
I dunno.
Thank you. This is very good advice. ๐
05.12.2025 19:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My gaming group is considering moving to the One Ring TTRPG. The books are BEAUTIFUL, and I love the setting of Middle Earth, but from the little I've played, I don't know if I love the play mechanics all that much? I don't know if I think it's "fun".
I need to try to be brave in voicing my dissent
Exact same, except I was on the "weird little boy" to "weird big woman" pipeline.
I feel it's maybe a little less stressful?
Being trans disqualified you from being involved or having any say at all in the nyt coverage of trans people. That was true 5 years ago, and itโs true today.
Itโs the definition of prejudice.
The most interesting part of this story isnโt that the pipe bomber is MAGA. That was blatantly obvious. What should interest folks is that the FBI and DoJ hid that fact from you, and still havenโt made a statement. This info is coming from sources on the condition of anonymity.

โDown there,โ he said, โare people who will follow any dragon, worship any god, ignore any iniquity. All out of a kind of humdrum, everyday badness. Not the really high, creative loathesomeness of the great sinners, but a sort of mass-produced darkness of the soul. Sin, you might say, without a trace of originality. It has a few parts that are frustrating to me, but that's only because they are slightly realistic.

It's weird how much I like Abigail in all her sweariness and standoffishness. I know I won't ever be, but sometimes I wish I was less conciliatory.
Just read The Knockout Queen by Rufi Thorpe. It was pretty dark. Lovely and thought-provoking, but dark.
Reading Emily St. James' Woodworking right now, and TKQ's Michael feels VERY similar to W's Abigail, but I think the tone of Thorpe's book has blinded me to how funny Woodworking really is.
The cheek!
