Trekkies and horror fans, my friends at the Beyond The Final Frontier podcast have just put up a brand new and rather wonderful interview with Herbert West himself, Jeffrey Combs. Listen and share #filmsky #startrek podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/b...
When do we get Ruben Östlund’s adaptation of the 2026 BAFTA Awards story?
We can hear you at the back
Killer roaches? Adding that to my reading list
Great initial content on there which is encouraging me to get back into reading for pleasure.
Another shout out for @benhoward.bsky.social and his great new Booktube channel Serrated Pages. If you like horror and crime (and hopefully some SF content soon Ben) like and subscribe over on YouTube https://youtube.com/@serratedpages?si=4l1ax-2Gc3zH4-yV
Why Scream made generic Slashers much worse...And why "Breathe In. Bleed Out" is the perfect example of this

And another friend Ben Howard (co-host of the much missed Mondo Movie podcast) has just launched a YouTube channel Serrated Pages (@serratedpages) deep diving into the world of genre literature (horror, crime and SF mainly. Early days for this, but join the community if you are a reader
If you are a fan of #startrek I recommend the podcast co-hosted by my friend Toby Weidmann, Beyond The Final Frontier. Latest episode gives fair and honest reaction to the first half of Starfleet Academy’s maiden season, and their recent Nana Visitor interview is a must. Available from all the usual
Time to plug some stuff from friends of mine…
#starfleetacademy s1e6 ‘Come, let’s away’, first of the series to introduce real stakes (not a criticism, I have mostly loved the teen drama episodes). Superb Trek that sets up the back half of Academy’s first season.
Pretty sure you will enjoy it. It’s taking some risks, and also pissing of all the worst people (snigger)
Episode 5 of Starfleet Academy, the show has really clicked for me. I really interesting blend of teen drama tropes and deep Trek lore
Caught two examples of degloving injuries on shows I watched this weekend, one was The Beauty, the other was in The Pitt. Guess which one nearly made me faint?
Barista in training? Or just really hungover?
Believe the hype, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is an absolute banger. Nia Dacosta confidently building on the foundations of the previous films, but clearly allowed to bring her own style. Garland’s script is vicious and really moves the franchise forward #filmsky
Wow
Time will tell how it plays out…Next Gen’s pilot was awful, Enterprises’ pilot was great, then those series go in wildly opposite directions (imo)
It felt Star Trek to me, the big ‘issue’ of the first episode gets sorted out through teamwork and actually doing Star Trekky type things
Have shocked myself with how much I enjoyed the pilot of Starfleet Academy, given how shonky the marketing has been. Very happy, because I am loathe to agree with anything from the toxic Trek-bros who have been firing a multitude of slurs at it
So, not all that proud of this selection, a run of the mill slasher, a film with one foot in the divine and the other in the gutter, a season finale so bloated it runs longer than most movies, and an exercise in emotional sadism #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
@bbdragula Interview With The Vampire recap on the pod? Oh hell yes pls!
#42: Dog Poo
That bit was great. Personal fave was the disco ball, camera dress that flayed men alive
Great movie, their most ‘fun’ film
This next Avengers film is starting to look like a frat house cocktail made in a bathtub. Just pour in every bottle from the back of the cupboard and hope for the best. #filmsky
What if Alain Resnais remade Kill Bill? No need to imagine, Cattet and Forzani’s amazing Reflection in a Dead Diamond is streaming on Shudder now #filmsky
Bit late to the party as it came out Nov (I think) but OMG Lux by Rosalía blows every other album released in 2025 out the water.
Nice to see from her Letterboxd that Charli XCX is at home watching Xmas TV like the rest of us
The Grinch Reviews Stranger Things - good enough to watch, not good enough to go back and rewatch, so no one actually knows what the fuck is going on. 5 stars
