There’s a reason people were singing and playing Come Out Ye Black and Tans this winter

Wish we were closer! We loved getting to watch their virtual concerts for St Patrick's Day when we were all stuck at home. Much love.

That's the thing. When you look at it like fascist colonizing Minne, it's easier to see in all the ways it's ICE and more that are tentacles-ing into the community, and stretching back to MAGA, Colonizer.

I gotta sit with this a minute.

Perry: This St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget Irish music’s anti-fascist roots Dropkick Murphys, the iconic Irish American punk band, are headlining a free block party March 6 near where Alex Pretti was killed by immigration agents, contributing columnist David M. Perry writes.

NEW β€œWe’re celebrating a tradition that is at its core about resisting occupation and maintaining community in the face of horrors. You can’t keep politics out of Irish music. No one should try, for two reasons. First, it’s ahistorical. Second, Minnesotans are ready for a big anti-fascist party.”

Friday night?

Sorry, I’m busy.

Super stoked they’re live streaming this.

Yeah I’m going to both shows on a press pass and yes, I’m gonna write about it, and yes, I’m also gonna have a good time.

Dropkick Murphys coming to town tomorrow and Jayson Tatum is back good day to be a Minnesota masshole like me.

The great thing is that you can use it to not write and then your house is cleaner!!!

I'm sorry I can't let this go. Instead of focusing on the actual threat (CHRISTIAN ZIONISM), too many people on the left decided to go all-in on antisemitism. As if the WHOLE PLAN isn't getting Jews and Arabs to kill each other until we're all dead and these assholes control everything. (1/2)

05.03.2026 23:52 β€” πŸ‘ 56    πŸ” 14    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

This is supersessionism. Like the definitive example (not Chris. Hesgeth).

Well. Or they’ll be playing John Denver. It is what it is.

That moment when paddy (from young Wolfe tones) compared the bin lids in Belfast to the whistles … unprompted by me … and then I knew my essay.

I've been thinking so much about Ireland during the ICE siege here in Minnesota and David, as always, puts on paper what for me was just a sort of inchoate blob of feelings. Terrific piece.

(side [musical] note: listen to Kneecap on St. Pat's Day and every day)

I grew up listening to Irish music in the back of my parent's car - every other song is a rebel song or a lament over what was taken away from them. If you remove the politics, you remove the entire core of it.
