So grateful that even now someone out here, on this hellhole we call the Internet, reminds us of Buck Frobisher's speech on the 11th of March.
Hmm maybe I was testing *your* nerve. (I missed all the trailers - they only showed about 15 minutes - but none of the AMC bumpers that followed.)
Testing my nerve by taking a bus scheduled to pick me up two minutes after the movie starts.
You can set a notification now for The Importance of Being Earnest starring Ncuti Gatwa free on YouTube this weekend.
I can't lie; I would like to know more about this ancient star mariner Deltan sex song. #firstvoyage
I don't know why people are hating on Starfleet Academy. This episode includes a misguided trip to a bar and a poor attempt at a diplomatic dinner, & you can't get more classic Trek than that. #firstvoyage
well guess i'm going to see @wickedjaws.bsky.social sometime soon
I would absolutely go watch men's sports with you! And I already decided my life is incomplete until I've eaten garlic fries out of a ferry!
This is a very compelling argument!
It's been too long! Job changes and the Olympics threw me off my #firstvoyage game, but I think it's time to come back. Should I start catching up on Starfleet Academy or get started on Disco S4?
I guess to be fair Imperfect is right there in the name, but one would hope it would apply to the produce and not to delivery estimates.
It is now 2 hours after Imperfect told me my order would be here in 40 minutes (which to be fair I knew was a lie) & now it says it's still 30 minutes out. My brain totally loves anticipating an interruption for hours; this is going great.
This photo is so good! Look at this lil pigeon hustling over for their morning coffee!
Sorry to them that my prior zine experience is 100% zines about BL & AO3.
My friend sent me this with a command to do it, so this is mostly to help me remember to apply (and to make the idea I immediately had either way.)
Whoever put Heat Lightning into my timeline recently, thank you! Quick and dirty little desert drama, & a terrific turn by Aline MacMahon in the lead as the filling station mechanic. Leaving Criterion at the end of the month.
That was not even on my radar! I thank you for this dangerous information!
Right? At least Seattle Center also has Vita over at KEXP, but it's so far away. This seems like a really obvious space for another coffee shop to take over.
My work here is done :D
Speaking of specialty coffee I see that Starbucks is closing their Seattle Center Armory location, which is terrific news for whatever local shop is going to take over that space (I'm voting for Monorail Espresso personally.)
My primary beef with specialty coffee drinks is that they're exempt from the Seattle Sweetened Beverage Tax. I've been mad about this for almost a decade now.
I haven't seen it since it came out (at Broadway Market Cinema, RIP!) so maybe I should go.
Well played, AMC.
I knew Bluesky would have my back on this one!
(This is why. I'm very cool. Can I stop having musical flashbacks to my early twenties please.)
My friend was just telling me about a character named Frank who was far too young to have that name, and my immediate question was: are they from Northern Ontario.
I thought the Ida Lupino one would be the worst, with a dude going on and on about the importance of a rape scene, but then the Arzner one basically said her only influence was that she encouraged Francis Ford Coppola and truly what the fuck.
They're all like 50 minutes, absurd, and feature dudes saying things like "she made money at the box office! what rare genius in a mere woman!" and anyway now I've thrown my TV out the window.
I watched a third one of these women in cinema docs today - it was also terrible, but about Dorothy Arzner - & now I'm so mad that these are my top directors on letterboxd now. Sorry to the Mary Pickford one remaining in the DVD set but I simply cannot.
Think of the hundreds of millions of dollars in therapy *saved* if queer kids could see themselves in some goddamned movies.
