As a KY veteran, I know the U.S. military should not be sent into U.S. cities | Opinion
OpEd: do we want an America where the military is treated as a political weapon against our own people?
This morning, my op-ed on the dangerous rhetoric from Hegseth and Trump was published.
As a patriot and a veteran, I couldnβt stay silent about talk of turning our troops against American citizens. Thatβs not strength, itβs dangerous.

This is how you speak truth to power. Brother Christian Matson of Pikeville called out the dishonesty of congressional republicans and stood up for Kentuckians in this letter to Congressman Hal Rogers.

I was honored to attend a beautiful ceremony today dedicated to remembering Kentuckyβs fallen firefighters. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The legacy they left lives on in every life they saved and in the hearts of everyone who knew them.

Hegseth: 'Defense' is out, 'killing people and breaking things' is in
There were no "firings" or "loyalty oaths" but what Secretary of Defense (War) Pete Hegseth called a "liberation" for "America's warriors" as he spoke to more than 800 generals and admirals brought in...
As a combat veteran, I never thought Iβd hear an American leader brag about throwing out the rules of engagement. π€―
Calling for maximum lethality is a green light for war crimes and will put our own troops in harmβs way. This isn't strength, it's reckless.

Kentucky trails nation on new climate and health scorecard β’ Kentucky Lantern
Kentuckians lose more years off their lives from power plant emissions than people in most other states, according to a new national report.
Coal kept the lights on in KY, but now we're paying the price with rising energy costs and the nation's highest cancer rate.
We don't need a ban, but we DO need an all-of-the-above energy strategy to save Kentuckians money while adding years to our lives.

Kentuckians made it clear at the ballot box in November that we believe in public schools. I couldnβt be prouder of the teachers, staff, and students here in Fayette County. To honor their work, we need transparency and a renewed foundation of trust.

Grateful to everyone, neighbors and members of the press, who came out to Open Ears, Open Minds this morning.
Our communities, our Commonwealth, and our country are all stronger when we come together to listen. The future depends on our ability to build bridges, not barriers.

Today is Constitution Day, a reminder that our democracy is built on both rights and responsibilities.
The Constitution set the foundation for a government meant to serve the people. Itβs up to us to keep pushing to make that promise real: protecting freedoms and ensuring every voice is heard.

A lot of us feel on edge right now. Division makes it hard to feel heard or understood.
Thatβs why Iβm hosting Open Ears, Open Minds - a casual hour at Lunaβs Coffee Shop. No speeches, no agenda, just real conversation about what matters to our community.

9/11 reminds us of both courage and unity. Heroes ran toward danger, and a nation came together. In light of yesterdayβs senseless tragedy, may we find that same strength to stand united when it matters most.

Violence is never the answer to political disagreement. Our democracy exists so we can resolve differences as civilized people, not through bloodshed.
After all, the American experiment was about people from different backgrounds and beliefs coming together to form one nation.

Kentucky battery workers are voting this week on whether to unionize. The right to organize built the middle class, leading to higher wages, safer workplaces, and benefits for all workers. In a world that too often puts billionaires over workers, I stand with the workers.

Some in GOP push to gerrymander out Kentuckyβs lone Democrat. Can they do it?
βLooks like we have the GREEN LIGHT in KY and Beshear will sign it into law, maybe? A 6-0 map is easily drawn,β one GOP influencer said.
Democracy works when voters pick their leaders, not the other way around. Thatβs why I support maps drawn by neutral bodies that promote competitiveness, fairness, and true representation. Letβs ensure every vote counts.
