I learned to quilt kinda backwards…I discovered improv quilting first! I’ve been taking workshops with Sherri since 2020 and I absolutely love them and have learned so much from the improv community. We start another round of blocks in January…join us!

I read a book recently called Meditations for Mortals, and they talk about the impossibility of completing the to-do list and acceptance of that (oof hard). But also to treat your to-do list like a menu you’re choosing from, and that one I really like!

I just read a fascinating book about famous art forger (and eventual convict) Tony Tetro called Con/Artist. I was FLOORED by some of the techniques he used to create his work, like buying 400 year old books to use the blank paper at the front and back for prints.

Completed my third quilt! It was made during my improvisational quilting studies earlier this year where I used only t-shirts! This one tells an icy Lake Erie story: ice crashing, geese flying, and lake glass tumbling. I gifted it to my daughter on her 11th birthday 🧶 #quiltsky

I’ve been on a Vonnegut kick as of late! Just finished Bluebeard for the upteenth time….was reading short stories in Welcome to the Monkey House but one of them was SO prescient, I had to put that one down 😵‍💫 he really predicted so much.

A paragraph in Kurt Vonnegut’s 1985 novel Galápagos. It reads, “”You, *Doctor Hiroguchi,” she went on, “think that everybody but yourself is just taking up space on this planet, and we make too much noise and waste valuable natural resources and have too many children and leave garbage around. So it would be a much nicer place if the few stupid services we are able to perform for the likes of you were taken over by machinery. That wonderful Mandarax you’re scratching your ear with now: what is that but an excuse for a mean-spirited egomaniac never to pay or even thank any human being with a knowledge of languages or mathematics or history or medicine or literature or ikebana or anything?””

Teen me sneakily watched SATC when it aired, but not really. I rewatched the entire series in covid isolation a couple years ago….I laughed out loud, I cried, and it really helped me get through a long isolation! There is some 90s cringe moments for sure, but this fortysomething kinda loves it 🍸

I trained for a year with a traditional sign painter and don’t do it nearly enough!

Saw Amadeus with the Cleveland Orchestra playing the score and it was 🤩 even made my husband some Nipples of Venus to enjoy that night!
