Ha ha, I might have one or two, even some to fit in with the vibe of most of the replies, but the first thing that came to mind was that I helped set up a NYC show for Jutok Kaneko at Siberia.

I just heard that Billy Stump A.K.A. Billy Synth passed away last week. An absolute unsung hero of psychedelic garage music through both his own music and the Psychedelic Unknowns comps. Both of these LPs are still available and if you don’t have them you should fix that ASAP

Not quite plate in the head/I can tell when it’s gonna rain level, sometimes it just feels weird. Broke the other wrist about 5 or 6 years later so I have matching scars and plates and screws in both.

Ha ha, I only remember the GE and DD sets so I am not sure who else was on the bill. That wrist was a pretty long ordeal. Had pins sticking out for a while and finally down to the short cast seen here. Mostly fine now.

That is what I am getting at. Sadly most labels don’t have a marketing manager as good as the one at 20/20/20

But “the internet is everywhere” does hold true here. If you get one cool store to do a promotion that is still very regional.

Obviously the most attention and $$ are concentrated on new releases and with so few outlets it is very tough. That is why the streaming experience continues to be underwhelming for most non-mainstream music. That doesn’t mean labels should not be trying to make it better by trying to get eyeballs

A lot less, but you are working entire catalogs and not just new releases. If you ever look at catalog or smaller profile artists on streaming services not ending in “fy” and you’ll realize there is so much work to be done.

It is definitely “a job” and I don’t think this is much different than retail marketing, even if the backend/economics of the process has become so slanted.
