Kenyan Birds A guest post by David Durose

That nice @levparikian.bsky.social let me loose on his substack to write a few words about the feathered types I met on my recent trip to Kenya. For people who don't like words, there are also pictures. I've not really written anything non-work related for 30 years, so a bit nervous about this...

Just a little message to say that Pink Tape is still going, but the automated email thingymajig that tells you when I’ve posted isn’t working and I don’t really have time to fix it right now. So there are a few posts up there, but they won’t find you and you’ll have to go looking. Will fix when can.

'Analysis last month by Andrew Tattersall...shows that a total of 98 UK higher education institutions listed on Bluesky as having accounts.

Of those accounts, 55 were active. But the number of inactive accounts stood at 43.'

Ironic stats given that new freedom of speech mandate has kicked in. 1/3

‘A legal rule forbids you to take a vehicle into the public park. Plainly this forbids an automobile, but what about bicycles, roller skates, toy automobiles? What about airplanes? Are these, as we say, to be called "vehicles" for the purpose of the rule or not?’

I think it is hard to underestimate how important this website is for the Rule of Law in the UK. Before 2010, if you wanted to find out what statutes were actually in force you essentially needed a subscription to a very expensive commercial product like Halsbury's Statutes.
