I have just listened to this episode and would love to recommend a 'survival' story featuring a woman. 'A Woman in the Polar Night' was written by the Austrian painter Christiane Ritter and is her account of how she made a life for herself and her husband through the winter of 1933 in the arctic.

I haven't seen a single episode of Game of Thrones, any of the Home Alone films or Footloose.
