Not feeling like the skies are very blue here. I’m disappointed to be bombarded with the same complaints/outrage that I see on FB. Yes, we should be outraged, but I was hoping for a better experience. 🫤

Hiking down a mountain after dinner in a little hut, the wind picked up, the clouds disappeared and, within minutes, streaks appeared across the sky. We couldn’t see green with our eyes but our phones picked up the color. Seeing the northern lights is often just luck—right place, right time!

Spectacular day (and time of day) for dogsledding! The sun was just coming up. No snow falling. And just cold enough that the dogs didn’t get too warm.

We walked out the door of our lodge and headed out for a day of snowshoeing through the forest. A couple of miles in, there was a kota where there was a roaring fire and shelter from the wind. Perfect place to stop for our packed lunch.

First stop once my group arrived in Lapland was Snow Village. Here, sculptures are carved out of ice in snow caves. Every year is different and this year’s theme is underwater world. There’s even an ice hotel where you can overnight (but OMG brrrr).

Google maps had us going up to the top of the ski resort to get to the town of Levi, which is actually at the bottom of the hill. The right turn at the top was into a snow bank.
Lucky for us, we had the most incredible view, above the cloud cover that was dropping snow in town with the sun setting.
Out on Lake Äkâslompolo, which freezes over nearly half the year. It warmed up a bit today to -6 F. 🤣

I’ve really been lacking imagination all these years. These are two of my very favorite things: cream filled chocolate donuts and popcorn. I don’t know why I never considered combining them. 🤣 Gotta love Äkäslompolo, Finland!

Found this graffiti in Montevideo, Uruguay—one of the most liberal countries on the planet. Where divorce became legal in 1913, women got to vote in 1938, abortion is legal and the country is secular (well, they do consider futbol a religion 🤣).
