Very sad. A very nice man. I do recall though that he was very non-committal when I suggested to him, some years ago, that the US would desert Syria's Kurds in due course. I'm sure he must have seen the plausibility of what I was saying, but he didn't reveal what his own thoughts were.
It would be a strategically wise gesture for Turkey to offer him medical treatment in the country.
