Reading the Tea Leaves on NIH Institute Director Searches Which Fringe Scientists Might be Considered for Leadership Positions?

‼️ A must-read piece by @jenna-m-norton.bsky.social & Shiv Prasad

NIH leadership has purged almost half of all institute/center directors

Will they fill these posts in the way Trump & RFK Jr installed people—from anti-science think tanks like AIER & Brownstone?

Trans people and people of color have been quietly erased from national caregiving plan The decision ignores the stark reality that underserved communities experience greater negative impacts from caregiving, from financial hardships to worse health outcomes, advocates say.

“Taking people out doesn’t take away the need,” Flatt said. “It just means we will not have data or information on them, which will create knowledge gaps and limit how we move forward and provide care to all caregivers.”

The show is inspired by the global non-profit, Cycling Without Age, which takes older adults on trishaw outings to feel the wind in their hair. From the Santa Barbara coastline to Barcelona beaches, each episode unlocks the lived experiences of today’s older generation, who have become increasingly removed from the flow of daily life. This series will create new conditions for generations to collide, share experiences, and be inspired by a sense of place and nostalgia.

On its face, this “Gold Standard Science” EO seems innocuous.

But beyond the serious concerns in 🧵 below, its “enforcement” provisions stood out.

A senior political appointee (DOGE?) will evaluate alleged violations, including referring those to Human Resources.
