Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

I know it can feel subpar, I have been there during these abductions and plead with agents to follow the law & I promise to work with our legal team to do everything we can to hold ICE accountable.

Federal Immigration actions are not allowed to be staged on park land. This is a violation of the resolution and unlawful activity.

I am grateful to CM Chavez for documenting and to Com. Carvajal-Moran for being present and a voice for our parks and families as well.

They are not allowed to stage on parkland. Signage has been produced and distributed and it’s not doing enough.

These agents feel like they’re above the law, and we as a body have to hold them accountable, however we can.

Call Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey at his office +16126732100 to demand MPD start protecting the citizens of Minneapolis.

MPD officers have a duty to protect this city, and we have known where their oath sits. Not for the citizens of this city, but with property and rhetoric of the image of the city.

Now, we may have more active ICE agents in and around the area, but we have seen smaller police departments do what our Mayor would not call on our officers to do.

St. Peter police have anywhere from 13-14 officers sworn in at anytime. Giving St. Peter a police to resident ratio of 0.11%.

MPD to Minneapolis residents: 0.13%.

This action is valid and effective as if approved by the Mayor. Calling on the State of Minnesota and Governor Walz to enact an eviction moratorium to keep Minneapolis families in their homes and protect them from ICE.

We need an EVICTION MORATORIUM NOW.

Our neighbors risk being separated from their families when they go to work. They also run the risk of being displaced if they don’t.

Sadly, Mayor Frey refused to sign the resolution calling on the Governor to enact this moratorium.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

In the wake of YET ANOTHER tragedy perpetrated by the federal government, friends, neighbors, and volunteers gathered to pack a uhaul full of groceries organized by a friend of the Depot. Staples like rice, but also stuffed animals and coloring sets. We all feel helpless, but we do what we can.

I hope a Mayor Frey, Governor Walz, and all elected leaders across the state can recognize that saying “Get the fuck out” is not enough.

We need to be clear about what it takes to keep us safe. ABOLISH AND PROSECUTE ICE.

I feel a certain level of responsibility to say this loudly and clearly as a 25-year old elected official. Trump has been leading this charge since I was 16.

Our communities are suffering at the hand of federal sanctioned violence while constitutional rights are being violated left and right.

January 7th, Renee Good was murdered.
January 14th, a neighbor was shot and we were gassed obsessively while observing.
Today, another community member was executed.
