To be clear: the SAVE Act does not simply require the identification voting ALREADY requires. It demands proof of CITIZENSHIP— a birth certificate with a name that matches yours now (bye, bye, married women), or a passport— both of which are expensive and take a long time to obtain.

Within minutes, Bill C-4 received royal assent. Bill passes without privacy safeguards and without any real discussion or debate. All within a matter of hours.

Ontario to introduce bill exempting Premier, cabinet from FOI requests Government’s proposed changes follow its loss of court battle over call logs for Ford’s personal cellphone

I am begging my fellow Canadians to take a break for a second from obsessing about American corruption to focus on our home grown versions.

Ford is a corrupt crony goon who has done countless shady backroom deals. He wants to remove one of our most powerful tools to hold him accountable. Fuck that!

Not so long ago, hugging Hitler was one of those lines you just didn’t cross.

But that’s what’s been happening with increasing regularity, revealed by a recent string of unhinged text chains among young Republicans.

Watched Shin Kamen Rider tonight and it was … okay.
Not as good as Shin Ultraman and def no where near as Shin Godzilla which still leaves good bumps on reflection.

Thanks to The Godzilla Papers (below), it’s been brought to my attention that ‘Godzilla King of the Monsters’ is inferior to the original. I’ll see if I can find this—was lazy and rewatched the first copy I came across rather than look for the original

Bruce Arthur: Travis Dhanraj aimed to reveal ‘editorial imbalance’ at the CBC. What the former TV host told MPs was more about him Dhanraj’s “editorial imbalance” complaint, aired Tuesday at the federal heritage committee, appears to be that the CBC hired him to host a news show, but he wanted to do more politics. So there was fr...

The testimony of Travis Dhanraj was absurd: he misrepresented his time at CBC in multiple ways, and a huge swathe of Canadian conservatives saw what they wanted to believe. In a way, it was a very instructive example of how Canada’s conservative sausage is made. www.thestar.com/opinion/star...

Difficult day for privacy in Canada on the way: government set to reject Senate amendment to Bill C-4 on political party privacy and will introduce a new lawful access bill that is likely to revive constitutionally dubious warrantless access provisions.

Trump’s military excursion, into an abyss The evident fact is that the president is nuts.

As Trump has descended into incoherence, and become nothing more than an assortment of adolescent (and frequently violent) urges, the government has been remade into a tool for the immediate satisfaction of his wants and desires no matter how absurd or nihilistic they may be, as I discuss in PN.

Also nice call back musically to the 1956 Godzilla King of the Monsters from Godzilla Minus one. That motif is haunting

Today Vancouver council is set to approve a staff recommendation to back away from their push to become a Bitcoin friendly city.

Here's my story about it, along with an extended montage about what Ken Sim has said about Bitcoin on various podcasts in the last two years.

Get this: Vancouver is one of the top contemporary art-producing cities in the world—internationally famous—yet the Vancouver Art Gallery has an annual budget of about $17m vs.Toronto AGO's $76m, despite Toronto having significantly less international profile.

It's embarrassing.
