As for the Steam Linux Runtime.

I honestly couldn't tell you. I don't use Steam as a launcher. So I can't really weigh in on that specifically.

Just in general, the Linux codebase is constantly evolving, with libraries getting updated very frequently. Backwards compatibility is never a guarantee on Linux, anything can break at any point. A single "pacman -Syu" can mean maintenance is required for a slew of older programs.

In what can only be described as a minor miracle, I have finally gotten git working on Linux

Windows backward compatibility is better than Linux backward compatibility. A windows game is more likely to run on Linux than a native Linux game (especially if it's old).

And if a windows game supports Vulkan then it gives the best performance possible.

Yeah NTFS is not the best on Linux. My backup machine kept complaining about file permissions when using rsync.

The amount of times I had black screens at boot due to Nvidia drivers...

Thankfully I haven't see it happen in a while.

I also had to ditch my second monitor as it was causing many issues (though now I may feel inclined to give it another shot).

So it begins

Also I wasn't able to get Steam Linux to launch games installed in library folders on other drives, but if I moved them to the Linux drive they worked fine.

Only issue I've had was, unsurprisingly, Nvidia drivers. Games (including Godot builds) were locked to the refresh rate of my second monitor until I found some random stuff to add to the environment file on Google.

So far so good. Got it installed on a separate drive and I have most of my essential work software running (aside from StudioOne which I feel like is going to be a nightmare and might just have to stay on Windows)
