Overcoming it is totally possible, but it’s a learned skill, requires a lot more cognitive processing, deliberate mental effort, delay of emotional reaction

💯 In-group/out-group is an easily exploitable achilles heel bc human animals have evolved to unconsciously lean into tribalism…& recognizing one’s own cognitive dissonance, biases, & hypocrisy—& those of one’s in-group—was not something naturally selected for in coding the “software” we operate on.
I think acquiescing to Orban would set a far more dangerous precedent…basically giving license to countries like 🇭🇺 🇸🇰 🇷🇺 🇨🇳, etc to commit what is essentially piracy—theft to obtain bargaining chips for negotiations over whatever they demand.
That’s toxic to both internat’l trade/finance AND diplomacy
Some of those loudest & most popular among them—just as among Christian Nat’lists—are foreign sockpuppets & propagandists, amplifying the most extreme rhetoric of L & R factions in liberal democracies to tear away at moderate centrism & social cohesion by turning the politics increasingly corrosive.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!
ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.
