If you’re roughly my age, it’s wild to reflect on the optimism for the future Americans felt when Obama was elected — young Americans spontaneously took to the streets to celebrate! — and contrast with what we face today. The falloff over the past 18 years is hard to process.

I get why racists and fascists love Trump. I get why greedy billionaires, and even just rich people, at least support him. I get why misogynists, and narcissists, and crooks, and corrupt opportunists love him.
What I don’t get is how anyone can watch him, and be in any way impressed by him.
Sure! Even those who voted Republican up and down in my opinion have that right. But my frustration with those who just didn’t vote (including one particular member of my own family) just pisses me off to no end.
If you didn’t vote in 2024 because _______ <insert dumbass reason here>, I don’t want to hear any complaining.
Gotta do your part to be involved in your democracy. And you get to rightfully complain only if you voted.
