Wrong to say group-based child abuse is predominantly committed by Pakistani men - police chiefs It's important to address "all the threats from all races and ethnicities", warns Assistant Chief Constable Becky Riggs, the National Police Chiefs' Council's lead for child protection and abuse inves...

85% of group-based child abusers were white in 2024.
It is important to prevent it amongst ALL groups where it occurs.

3.5% of child abuse cases were group-based in Q3 2024. So 96.5% were not. Those cases mustn't be ignored just to fulfil Goodwin's racist preferences.

Is Matt Godwin turning into Robert Jenrick? There is something about their faces that look very similar. I’m genuinly wondering this… but I am also open that it might not be a true facial similarity but just a similar smug and condescending expression… πŸ₯Ή

'Manufactured panic': Immigration not near top of most people's concerns, poll suggests The cost of living, health, crime, and housing are much higher on people's lists of personal worries, a YouGov survey has suggested.

🚨 Saeema Syeda, of the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI), said the poll shows:

"It's a manufactured panic, pushed by some politicians and parts of the media to distract from what actually matters to people.

πŸ“Š Immigration is so often in the media. But did you know that our latest research found that only 26% of people view the issue as one of the top three issues facing their local communities?

The fundamental problem:

58% of voters want public spending maintained or increased.

67% want taxes to stay at their current level or be cut.

In reality, it’s a binary choice. Taxes go up, or spending is cut. That’s it.

It's mad how much people care about immigration when it is so proportionately unimportant compared to healthcare, cost of living, poverty, climate change, wealth inequality, war etc. How easily people are convinced to rage about the wrong things by charismatic manipulators and social media posts.

Very much this πŸ‘ there seems to be a concerted effort to find comparatively small administrative errors (I am comparing to Tory sleaze, expenses & vip lanes etc) & elevate them & exploit them. If I was KS I’d have reputation & financial auditors in for Labour cabinet & a check list for all MPs.

She’s right. She *deliberately* hacked into Harriet Harman’s website, whereas Rachel Reeves is accused of obtaining a license late by accident. I assume that’s what she means, given Badenoch is widely known for her thoughtfulness and her self-awareness.

She let her house through a letting agency who failed to advise her or do correct licensing application within their service, so why aren’t you doing an investigation programme on how letting agencies fail their customers? This minutiae of β€œgotcha” politics fails uk citizens

Spending cuts being bandied around by Tories & Reform wld hv such a huge negative impact on UK citizens everyday life that all but very richest wld be looking back at Labour Govt in 2025 as peak halcyon days. Print of a comic strip by me who is Stephen Collins. The imagery of the comic starts off with a single electron and then each panel zooms out one step - first to the microchip, then the OLED screen, then the iPhone, the person holding the iPhone, and onwards

Script:

An electron, forged in the first fire of the Big Bang

Courses through a deeply intricate maze of transistors and diodes

mined with unfathomable ingenuity from our planet’s deep geological past

and assembled from all over the world

Into a device perfected through centuries of technological evolution

to perform a beautifully synchronised pixel dance on an OLED screen

in an intricate moving pattern of shifting light

[Show a phone screen with an Instagram post featuring Ryan Gosling and bearing the legend:]

WATCH RYAN GOSLING EAT A PASTY FOR THE FIRST TIME!

whose choreography is powered by an global information network of unknowable complexity

which is specifically tailored to the interests of the being observing the screen

who is a member of the most advanced species on Earth

[Show a shlubby looking GUY idly looking at the Ryan Gosling/sausage roll Instagram reel on his phone while sitting in his pants and a stained t-shirt and eating a massive bag of crisps]

with a brain perhaps more capable of reconfiguring these signals into conscious thought than any other for billions of miles around

[Guy has a thought]:
β€œMmm…"

in this endless, silent void.

[Pull back to show the Earth as a tiny blue dot among the stars with a thought bubble coming from it]

"… I want a pasty.”

[ends]

Yes, this is very true. Just as voting green will be splitting the progressive vote in others areas, and Lib Dem etc etc. Best for Britain was very good with its polling data - one of the most accurate at last GE & I will be keeping an eye on their tactical voting info.

When was the last time you heard a politician in the media asked anything like-

-How will you make sure asylum seekers can reach the UK safely & refugees are protected?

-How will you make sure people coming to this country to work or study are treated equally & with respect?

I cannot remember.

I’d agree it’s impossible to call this far out. Ppl will just have to watch and see what happens, and help raise awareness when tactical voting is clear and will help keep out Reform and Reform like Conservative MPs. Still a long way out from next GE, & even 7 months from local elections. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

It's increasingly obvious that Labour's strategy - call it Starmerism, Blue Labour, whatever - has got it badly wrong. It has alienated the party's core vote while failing to win over those leaning to Reform. There was no shortage of people warning them they were getting it wrong either.

I will agree & disagree w youπŸ˜€ tactical voting (T-V) has been a part of Uk politics, but as I understood it from Best for Britain analysis, & campaigns for T-V at the last GE, T-V increased in β€˜24, & post Caerphilly byelection analysis revealed high T-V levels not previously predicted in the polling
