And currently I don't believe gene editing is any worse than selective breeding (which is OFTEN facilitated by mutagens: using radiation or a chemical to induce mutations to then select suitable plants from)

When they should really think about what impact these crops have on endemic vegetation. There really aren't enough studies exploring and testing that imo.
GMO foods are completely safe to consume though and honestly probably one of the ways ensuring food security in a changing climate.

Biology GMO rant:

People are so irrationally afraid of consuming genetically modified organisms (as in gene editing) such as golden rice or a video I just saw where they added a snapdragon gene to make a tomato a deep shade of purple. (1/3)
