Close-up of bright green moss forming star-shaped tufts on the forest floor, with slender reddish stalks topped by tiny round spore capsules rising above the moss beneath fallen leaves and a log in a woodland setting.

And some very nice sporophytes

Close up photo of a cluster of Virginia bluebells with pinkish buds and soft blue bell-shaped flowers growing among bright green leaves on a woodland floor, with tall leafless trees and a clear blue sky in the background.

Saw some early bluebells today

We got very very little snowfall this winter and it's been exceptionally warm all season. With all the dry grassland it's essentially a powder keg.

We're also going to be getting insanely strong winds tomorrow with gusts up to 65+ mph.

Would you like a little rest?

I made this little video for you. It’s just trees. A small creek. Nothing happens. It’s 2 minutes long.

Come sit πŸ”‰

His whole life, Trump has always had someone else around to bail him out of the messes he creates: his father, Allen Weisselberg, the "adults in the room" in his first term. Now all those protectors are gone and he is openly begging for someone to save him from his own folly.

A miniature orchid with a tight cluster of orange flowers. Each flower has a hooded dorsal sepal, little hooked labellum, and long, thin dorsal sepals.

Very smol orchid. Bulbophyllum taiwanense. Flowers are about 2 cm from top of dorsal sepal to tips of lateral sepals. 🌱🌴

Photo of a tuft of Shagnum moss that’s off white to light and medium green in colour. The branches of the moss plants look feathery, radiating out from the centre.

Sphagnum moss. #Newfoundland, Canada. #moss #bryophyte #plants
Photo covers about 6cm, left to right.

love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

Picture of a large painted surface in the stairwell of my studio. A sage green wall about 4x8 feet, decorated with swirling Telemark-style painting in blues, greens, reds, yellows. A smaller blue panel partially visible below it. Oh, and looks like my thumb at the lower right corner of frame. A view of just the large panel. It's at a raking angle, as it's hard to photograph in the stairwell. Large, rococo- and baroque-inspired "C" and "S"-shaped swirls and abstract flowers. Rosemaling is a Norwegian folk art that has been around for a long time (and is similar to many other folk painting traditions in Europe). It became popular in America among the diaspora during the 20th century. I started Rosemaling after the 2024 US election; the re-election of Trump made me feel intense stress, anger, and grief. Painting has helped me keep me sane. A smaller painting project. At left, an antique platter by Per Lysne, a Stoughton, Wisconsin-based painter who helped popularize rosemaling as a craft in the US. At right, a seat from a child's chair, on which I am painting a design closely following Lysne's distinct style.

Timeline cleanse painting projects: I am close to finishing the big design in my studio stairwell (based on work by Sigmund Arseth), and a little piece inspired by Per Lysne (his 1930s platter on left in image).

It looks nice! I like the color.

My grandma loved Betty Boop so the character is very nostalgic for me.

Oh, nevermind. My favorite actor isnt even the main male lead in this show, and the actual male lead is an actor I also dont like. 🫣

Guess I dont have to worry about watching that one then.

A dry stone wall thickly covered in moss making it look soft and cushiony.

A very old wall in Blairgowrie. Not so much mossy as upholstered

Moss on boulder, with detritus and tiny plant taking advantage of its cushioning.

Anyway here’s some moss; I haven’t been taking many snaps lately for Reasons but this one called to me.

Gulley with several tree trunks on the left and part of a pine on the right. Several moss-covered fallen trees span the view. The forest floor is bright green with freshly sprputed leaves of wild garlic.

A bit of the "circle of life" in the Wye Valley today. Dead and fallen trees lie in a gulley, serving as a surface for dense patches of moss. And all around them, wild garlic is bursting from the soil to welcome Spring.

It shows an artificial ruin with statues and crumbling arches.

Did you know?

In the Victorian era, wealthy landowners built artificial ruins in their gardens.

These were carefully constructed structures designed to look like the remains of ancient buildings, such as crumbling castle towers, roofless chapels, or broken Gothic arches.

The running theme lately seems to be my favorite kdrama actor/actress being partnered in a show with someone I dont like.
