Sunderland list continues to trickle along. Now up to 101 species including this Med Gull at Ryhope last week. Still at least 12 'easier' birds to get before the spring migrants arrive.

Managed to pick up the Adult Iceland Gull at Washy from the Cox Green side of the river. Sunderland list increasing slowly after struggling to motivate myself over the first month and half. #NEBirding

Connected with the local SEOs yesterday. Goldeneye on the river this morning. Otter also showed nicely. 80 species up for Sunderland. #NEbirding

Drew a blank for local Owls this evening. Flock of 23 Fieldfare feeding in a field at dusk. #NEbirding

A good few year ticks on today's WeBS count bring my total to 72. Nothing out of the ordinary. Hopeful of reaching 100 by the end of the month. Just about cheered up after yesterday's Ross's Gull dip. #NEbirding

Sadly no sign of the Ross's Gull today at South Shields with @jmid1372.bsky.social . A smart 2W Iceland Gull over the pier was a nice consolation. To add insult to injury it appears the Gas Tanks at Hendon are being cleared. Another prime site in Sunderland will be lost. #NEbirding

Sunderland year list ticking along nicely at 58. Whooper Swan at Herrington at the weekend. Now to hope the Ross's Gull does the right thing and hangs on till the weekend and spends its time in Durham!

A quick hour at Rainton Meadows yesterday lunchtime started the Sunderland year list off with 37 species. Cetti's Warbler being the pick of the list (a site first). Well found Mick. Sadly the WF Goose was in a field just outside of the boundary.
