They did not respond but I assume that went in my file.
Today is the anniversary of the day 6 years ago when I tweeted at the DC Council members to ask what they were doing to reduce civilian-cop interactions in light of the pandemic and one of them tagged in MPD.
lmao
15% cuts across faculty and staff at The New School 😢
It’s wild because there are people burning down society (derogatory) but they are super rich.
Not paying income taxes is not the same as paying no taxes. Everyone pays taxes.
And they won’t even get any clout!
Clown shit
hyper-individualism is really killing people.
Transit marketing 🔥
Many supporters of science note the latest attack on US research as "senseless" or "no good reason" as if it is just an irrational attack on things (science & medicine) that all recognize are both good and outside of politics.
Better if we acknowledged that there are clear goals to this attack. 1/4
The idea that culture and materialism are different things rather than two aspects of reality is bullshit
The point of the ‘what if you didn’t have to pay taxes’ move is to avoid doing anything useful.
I can't even find the words to express how repugnant and despicable this post is.
People who spew such Islamophobic bile don't belong in the United States Congress. The job of elected officials is to combat hate, not fan its flames. (1/2)
Let there be as much outrage from politicians in Washington when kids go hungry as there is when I break bread with New Yorkers.
Got my hands on a physical copy of my book today! The digital version is now available open access @degruyterbrill.bsky.social www.degruyterbrill.com/document/doi...

I am old enough to remember the vitriol directed at random humanities scholars' work complaining about the totalizing tendencies of capitalism to corrupt, colonize, or co-opt everything. I also lived long enough to read long term coverage of the literal attempt to privatize thinking in the newspaper
Showing up for other workers feels great.
I find it baffling how many people online are acting like Israel controls the U.S. It does not.
hold on to ideas, stand for values, build things up, risk synthesis
Something I've been trying to do lately is formulate my principles and beliefs in positive rather than negative terms - "I believe X" rather than "I'm not like those fucking guys" - and it's been a useful and (I think) healthy little reorientation
I love features like this because every single one of these products ALREADY HAS THIS FEATURE, it's called their algorithm and it was the literal foundation of the entire user experience until this point.
The story is "we're doing algorithm again, but slower and worse."
I answer this every time, and I’m happy to answer it again; detention is a tool of deportation. The goal is not to keep people detained indefinitely, although some people may be held for months, and in some cases even years. Once detained, deportation becomes dramatically easier for the government.
Apparently all three shows were in the top 10 because of the cross over.

There are all sorts of taboo left positions but people who insist they are motivated by saying forbidden things never decide on something like border abolition.
It’s fine to point out that the pretexts are false but you have to focus on the fact that they wouldn’t have justified it anyway.
Ruth Wilson Gilmore said, “No abolitionist who is a true abolitionist wants to save money. What we want is for the money to be spent, to enhance, and support human life so that it can flourish in a way that doesn’t destroy the planet. We’re not about cost-savings.“ Saving lives, not saving money.
