hi. it's me. the shingler. i was diagnosed with shingles today after going to urgent care around midnight and waiting there until 6am to see a doctor. apparently it's early stages so i got antiviral meds that will hopefully prevent things like chronic nerve pain + a lot of heavy duty painkillers ✌️

but like when they're Almost done, i take them off the stove, pour out the water, then let them steam for some time. i remember my mom used to put a cloth/paper towels over the potatoes too under the lid to keep the steam in

in the rice, take it off the stove. then mix it a bit and let it rest 10-15 min. if you take it off the stove when it's already dry, i find it tends to be really mushy. i do this w/potatoes also and it gives them a creamy texture w/o them breaking apart. but ofc there is still water w/potatoes gfdgf

i've had many successes w/this method: wash the rice a couple of times, add enough water that when you poke your finger in and rest it on top of the rice, the water covers your finger up to the joint above your nail. then cook maybe 10 min on very low (eg 2-3 out of 9) and when there is still water
