Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

A Stain that Won't Dissolve (on my thespectaclesofthor AO3 account) has hit 5,000 kudos. I don't normally track kudos like that, but it's the first time a story of mine has ever hit 5k kudos, and it's the first time it's happened for a story I'm actively writing, and for an OLD fandom. Just...

You get two for the price of one:

- An inability to comprehend fiction or fictional media beyond 'what if real tho' because everyone can grok a good/bad dichotomy to their detriment.
- A surefire excuse to bully and abuse real humans who then become "criminals" within that paradigm

If critiquing characters like they're real people in a crime show becomes the zeitgeist, suddenly 'villains are cool actually' (they are, if they're written well and/or hilarious by accident lol) or 'these morally questionable actions are entertaining and I love that' becomes 'I love real crime.'

This suddenly makes me think that in countries with low reading comprehension (now nearly all of them, definitely including the USA), criticising characters like they're real people in a true crime 'guilty or not - y/n' series replaces genuine critique/theory/analysis, among other things.

Reasons for so much of my writing and autistic burnout this year have been so much more to do with physical and mental health over writing too much, and it's frustrating having to slow down on something I love so I can *checks wrist* have my liver hole-punched and be sick and see dentists.

I thought it would be fun to count how many appointments I've attended this year, then realised how thoroughly depressing it would be because I'm pretty sure it's over 80. There have been over 15 in the last two weeks alone.
