10.02.2026 09:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Alright folks, give me a letter and I will show you an animal I've drawn starting with that letter!
One letter per reply, you can reply more than once!
The artists and writers who fell back on 'well but it's bad and it's easy to tell the difference' will one day no longer have this to fall back on. Some already don't.
But I still feel less threatened, because I do think a lot of readers care about making a connection. Authors too.
The thing about Gen AI that makes me feel less threatened as an author is simply that I don't like the homogenised generic-ness of Gen AI writing.
A lot of people however, can no longer tell the difference. The Heated Rivalry fandom on AO3 is a good example of this.
It wouldn't annoy me so much except I really like thunderstorms and pre-thunderstorm weather gives me brutal fatigue. And without the weather "breaking" (barometric pressure shifting) the pain lingers.
So I get to predict this with my whole damned body.
At some point, SURELY the meteorologists in Perth have to realise that there's a really high chance that storms angling in from the North are most likely to get trapped/locked behind the Darling Scarp, right?
It's like they forget that ridge every single time they make a prediction. x.x
I hate when I say one thing like 'Underline the Red will be a monthly story' only to realise that it might actually work better in rotation with Underline the Silver. It's partly because the scope of Red is so huge, it's many storylines, many years, it's hard to just bust out lots of chapters?
Hm
'Who's going to win," she says after explaining that she can't even mention the pen names producing books because it will tank what pitiful sales she gets if people know she's using AI to produce them.
LOL. Hear yourself.
It's possible that I could have monetised better and made smarter decisions, but ultimately my accessibility issues really got in the way, in a way they just don't for my writing. And I haven't like "abandoned" it, I just... eh. Idk, simultaneously sometimes miss it and then get reality checked.
08.02.2026 13:37 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Every now and then I miss working as an artist, and then I remember how it absolutely brutalised my wrists/hands/eyes/posture, and I never made more than like $5.50 an hour at the peak of doing it (and often far less), and it's like ah yes, I really, really prefer it as a hobby now.
08.02.2026 13:36 β π 8 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Tiny Aquarium has this really unobtrusive way of interacting with other people in that you can visit their aquariums and leave (only positive) reactions on there, and they can do the same to yours.
There's also co-op fishing. I don't use the chatrooms, but I do just like hanging out and fishing.
I've been increasingly getting into collectathon / idler / incremental style games, and I have to say I'm really liking Tiny Aquarium now that I've got the hang of it. And I'm so close to 100% achievements on Chillquarium.

The idea that artists are elite or privileged rich people is such idiocy. Iβve gone to conventions with artist friends who are tabling at artist alleys and itβs like 4-5 of us in one hotel room.

He said, "Sometimes I catch you bouncing over the bridge on my ride home!" I always assume no one can see me, sometimes I am singing to myself on that bridge too
ahhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

06.02.2026 01:41 β π 326 π 17 π¬ 7 π 1YOI is one of those ones that's interesting because most folks think of FS as "gay" but it's been so aggressively homophobic in the past even from within, and it's gotten somewhat better since YOI, but much like HR and Heartstopper is far lighter. Which is sort of my point. We need way more rep
05.02.2026 13:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah QAF:US had a lot of joy as well, for sure, but it definitely dealt with darker and angstier subject matter (which I personally find more relatable), in part because it had much longer seasons. And HR is also very important/topical for the sports world, though YOI was the same on that axis too
05.02.2026 13:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0QAF:US was dealing with gay bashing, gay terrorism, AIDS/HIV, kink in the community, emotional abuse and domestic violence and how police don't take it seriously, multiple coming out stories, teen hustling etc.
So Heated Rivalry is so necessary, so necessary! But times have changed re: media rep
I was spoiled by Queer as Folk: US which dealt with so many different queer storylines in depth over 20 years ago, so in some ways Heated Rivalry is very "fluffy" by comparison, and a reminder that we've gone backwards in some representation, which is wild. Which is also why we need more!
05.02.2026 11:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not my design, it's by Owl Forest studios, they do really nice tapestry-style cross-stitch patterns and kits!
04.02.2026 15:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah we're not in the Perth weather zone unfortunately, we don't get the sea breeze at all, and so our biome is markedly different, from the cyclonic winds overnight that are pretty regular, to the temps generally being 2-5C hotter every day, and also us missing most of the rain y'all get forecasted
