On this day 10 years ago, Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax released in North America. Developed by French Bread (Under Night In-Birth, Melty Blood), this 2D fighter featured Dengeki Bunko light novel / anime characters dueling on stages from various Sega video games.

The events with unlockable decals and stuff will drive player engagement as well, just like Maximus Cups in Tetris 99, or Splatfests in Splatoon.

It will have a decently active playerbase for a while because of the free updates and inclusion of cross-platform multiplayer.

Team Sonic Racing's online playerbase died in about a week with no DLC at all, no cross-platform multiplayer, and the Crash Team Racing remake releasing very soon after.

Yeah, there's a few like the Team Sonic Racing / Sonic Mania double pack, and the Clea collection. GTA Trilogy puts three icons, Danganronpa Decadence puts FOUR icons, and the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Collection physical release puts SIX icons.

I've been playing the Wii U Virtual Console version I got before the eShop shut down, and I've been having a great time with it.

This and the NBA Street V3 collaboration were super cool to me as a kid.

Maybe I'm too old or whatever, but I really think the way cars felt and handled in Racing Transformed and TSR was better. It felt more unique while still feeling good to control, while CrossWorlds just feels like Mario Kart with a slightly different drift.
