It’s Steam and a PC which means it’s open. The issue with consoles, for me, is DRM. I can tolerate digital in the context of an open platform where you can exert control over the software.

Remind me - isn’t the VI filter specifically the thing that deblur functions remove? There’s both the VI filter and anti-aliasing in the chain. Or is there a third?

Yeah, it died on the release date of Gears 2. Was planning a co-op session with a buddy with two 50" plasmas at my place. Had to run out and buy a new 360 that evening as a result. The timing was hilarious.

How curious. I finally opened up my launch 360 which red ringed in 2008. Inside I’ve found a bunch of capacitors that seem to have blown which seems separate to the usual red ring issue. Wonder what’s up with that?

Great stuff! The only thing left that I'm hoping can be addressed is the option to disable PSSR on PS5 Pro as the implemtnation is pretty bad and makes the game look worse than the base PS5 version.

New Valve hardware finally announced and I think it looks amazing. The new headset feels like it could possibly replace the Quest 3 - more powerful and no Facebook account needed. The GabeCube is just a gorgeous little box that seems reasonably powered.

Yeah, I recommend picking this up immediately. It's a fantastic take on Lumines and probably my favorite version since the PSP original. Gorgeous visuals, great music and sound and excellent VR.

I think it’s no coincidence that the most successful Xbox console launched with a numbered Ridge Racer. Just saying.

I honestly never minded this aspect due to the quality of the combat and the narrative concept of “getting the hell out” after discovering The Flood.

Basically - you can drop the player into an empty box room in Halo with enemies and it’ll still be fun. Not so with COD2.

PC version is better but it still feels bad and has horrible mission design next to Halo. It’s just a boring, bad design. Subsequent games at least made the weapons feel great. They do not feel great in 2.

As two popular launch titles, the gulf in quality and playability between Halo Combat Evolved on Xbox and Call of Duty 2 on 360 is so vast. Halo absolutely decimates COD2 in retrospect and it’s not even close in my book. COD2 has aged horribly - Halo remains a classic.

It’s better now than before! Absolutely worth getting.

I still love this little thing for quick gaming sessions.
