Wild to see this finally hit consoles. Blood absolutely slaps and is one of my favorite classic shooters. Buy this and play it. Trust me on that.

It's weird but...if you own a Switch 2 and Switch OLED, try picking up and using the OLED again. It immediately just feels like the more premium hardware. Sleeker, better materials, way better screen - the Switch 2 genuinely feels cheaper. Like an Amazon Fire tablet versus an iPad or something.

It's not true but, honestly, I feel bad for you. If you look at a game like this and that's all you think about...that's a mindset I hope I never experience.

I use DTM in cases where I feel the HDR isn't great and I want to boost overall brightness. It makes things really pop. When games properly leverage HDR and HGiG then I use HGiG.

Those who are picking it up, enjoy Metroid Prime 4! Hope you guys have as much fun as I did. Also, make sure to grab green crystals from chests in the shrines and various other places around the world - you don't need to just drive through them in the desert (that method is way slower)

The AI apocalypse continues. The amount of collateral damage from AI is truly staggering. This is not likely to end well.

Hard to say if you'll enjoy it or not. It really just depends on whether certain elements annoy you or not. The things people complained about largely didn't phase me in any negative way but that won't be true for everyone.

Yes, it sucks. The issue is brightness. A lot of shit LCD with uniform backlights that max out at 400 nits are sold as "HDR capable" but that's a lie. If you buy OLED, you'll be fine for sure, at least.

However, HDR is kinda limited by some factors

1) A lot of companies sell 'HDR displays' that can't properly do HDR - they accept the input but the panels aren't capable (Switch 2's own screen is like this)

2) Not all HDR implementations are good - Kirby Air Riders screwed it up, for instance

If you're seeing washed out colors then something is wrong with your config. HDR boosts the color depth significantly and increases the range between light and dark. Sunlight can appear SUPER bright, as it should, while shadows are dark- bright and dark elements can co-exist on-screen. It's striking

I basically use dynamic tone mapping for games with mediocre hdr and it works for me. Games with great HDR are best with HGiG, though.

You can’t disable them but they’re largely innocuous and only hint at which main area to visit if you’re out in the desert. Not ideal but it doesn’t specifically tell you where to go - just the general area. Which is good in this case as driving across the map (which I loved) could become tedious

Well, the game is also great beyond that. Most complaints are people mad about story stuff and other things that, at least to me, aren’t important and barely take up any time in the game anyways.

It’s an easy 5/5 in my book. I think the reviewers are largely too harsh and I disagree super strongly with them.

Some mixed reviews out there but for me it’s a 5/5 and my second favorite Prime game. Absolutely loved everything about it - well, almost everything. Also the best HDR I’ve seen in a long time.

Yep. Gigantic letdown for me. I don't think simply mapping new visuals onto the original game works - especially for a game with such a time specific set of controls. Should have rebuilt it in the style of Phantom Pain.
