And yes, "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" is an entirely straightforward phrase whose meaning has never been honestly questioned. We know what it means. The drafters knew. Every president and congress has known. SCOTUS knew, and knows. There's no goddamned ambiguity.

An image of the front cover of Wooing the Witch Queen shows a sinister witch queen in a spectacular beaded dress embracing her handsome and adoring new librarian (in a black wizard's robe) inside a library of magic filled with crows and masks and flying books. Above and beside it is this snippet from the book:
β€œ...Mmm?” One bushy green eyebrow rose meaningfully.
Saskia followed his gaze across her outfit: the comfortably worn old grey gown covered by a sensible apron, which itself was covered with stains from old experiments, and a cheerful purple handkerchief that held her long, thick hair out of danger’s way.
She liked that handkerchief. It had been sewn for her by a wickedly bawdy old goblin chieftain last year. She thought it looked quite well against her pitch black hair and pale skin.
She sighed, though, as she accepted the inevitability. β€œYou’re right, of course. As usual.” Shaking her head, she stepped back from the lectern where she kept her notes. β€œI’ll be ready in a quarter of an hour. If you could prepare the entrance chamber?”
β€œI’ll start the skulls boiling now,” said Morlokk, and bowed his way out of the room, letting the heavy wooden door fall shut behind him.

In Crimson, In Moonlight - Small Wonders It's mutual when the werewolf and the moon break up.

There's a draw, to messy relationships, to trainwrecks of the heart, and to the moon. Especially for the werewolf. "In Crimson, In Moonlight" by Stefan AlcalΓ‘ Slater explores a breakup between moon and werewolf, and how life goes on after:

also my letter about the anthropic ai lawsuit came in the mail at exactly the same time.

i’m not sure it that’s a good omen. lol. maybe it’s hinting at the number of copyright violation lawsuits about to pummel anthropic and/or ai companies in general.

no. really. if you’ve not read β€œa libertarian walks into a bear”, you really should. nothing illustrates better why i blame libertarians for this mess than that book.

some things you don’t mess with. just let them take root & survive. but my guess is: knowing how fucked up the healthcare system is and how the republicans are making it worse.

or maybe my rant abt government’s necessary function hit finally? or my β€œa libertarian walks into a bear” recommendation?

i’m real sure it’s bc the entertainment center the receiver lives in doesn’t have enough ventilation and dane (my partner) sometimes forgets that. he shuts the glass doors on it. the receiver overheats.
